Year of the Goat 2027 for the Pig: 亥未 and Where Wood Begins

Pig birth years: 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019. Your year branch is 亥.

The Pig belongs to the 2027 year's own alliance. 亥, 卯 and 未 form the Wood trine (三合); 亥 with 未 alone forms a half-trine, 亥未半合木局. The year opens at Lichun on 4 February 2027.

The two ends of one cycle

Within the Wood trine, 亥 is 水生木 — the birth point, where Wood begins — and 未 is the storehouse, where Wood ends up. The Pig and the Goat are the opening and closing of the same arc, with the Rabbit's peak in between.

So the Pig's 2027 is not the same alliance year the Rabbit gets. The chart shows a long interval closing: things the Pig set in motion arriving at the place they get kept. A half-trine between the start and end of a cycle reads as completion rather than momentum.

Water meeting Earth

Underneath the alliance there is an elemental tension worth naming. 亥 is Water, holding 壬 (Yang Water) and 甲 (Yang Wood). 未 is Earth, and Earth controls Water — 土克水. The branch relationship binds the two; the element relationship has the year pressing on the Pig's own element.

Both are real simultaneously, and which one you feel depends on your chart. A Pig with abundant Water gets the alliance: the year has something to work with and the 甲 Wood hidden in 亥 feeds straight into the trine. A Pig whose Water is already thin gets the control relationship instead — an Earth-heavy year pressing on a weak element, with 丁 Fire in the year stem producing still more Earth.

The rest of the board

Rabbit is your trine partner and the centre of the Wood alliance — the most structurally aligned sign for you in 2027. Goat is the year itself, in half-trine with you. Tiger is your 六合 six-harmony partner (寅亥), which carries an unusual double: 寅亥 is simultaneously a six harmony and a six break, one of the few pairings that is both. Snake remains your 巳亥 clash, independent of the year.

The self-punishment note

亥 is one of the four self-punishing branches (自刑), along with 辰, 午 and 酉. That means a Pig carrying 亥 twice or more in the natal chart has a standing configuration that has nothing to do with 2027 — but it changes how an Earth-heavy year lands, because the pressure arrives on a branch that is already doubled.

A This Year reading weighs the alliance against the Water-Earth pressure in your actual chart. The full twelve-sign breakdown is here.
